Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson Admits To Being Afraid To Fight Hard

Following his loss to Tyron “The Chosen One” Woodley, Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson hit the UFC 209 Post-Fight Press Conference and made a revelation that made every jaw in the room drop.

In response to a question about the new UFC scoring rules that authorize a more liberal use of 10-8 rounds, Wonderboy said:

“I think that’s gonna push guys to go out there and fight harder, I believe. Cause you can’t go out there and leave it in the judge’s eyes like that, you know. Which is dangerous, I think. For me knowing that this guy knocks me down, he gets a 10-8, then I gotta go out there and fight harder.”

The surprising part is how sad, and dejected Thompson appears while saying it. Isn’t the point of fighting is to fight hard and not leave it to the judges? What kind of fighter admits this?
