Kendrick Lamar (aka Kdot) was supposed to make Hip Hop Great Again. GQ Magazine called him the King of Rap. Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, and The Game called him the King of the West Coast. Kendrick called himself the King of New York. So what went wrong?
The allure of fame is strong, but once obtained, it can drive a person M.A.A.D.
In 2015, Kendrick released an album called To Pimp a Butterfly. The album went platinum and was nominated for many awards, even winning a Grammy for Best Rap Album. That was two years ago. For someone claiming to be the “King,” going awol for this long would automatically mean that your kingdom has been taken over.
